Dr. Tarek M. Ragab

  • Research Interests:

​Dr. Tarek has more than 32-year experience as a university instructor in multiple, Urban Planning, Urban Design and Architectural schools at home and overseas. He is a Professor of Urban Planning, Policy and Design at Department of Architecture at Alexandria University of Egypt since 1996. Currently, He teaches in the Master of Urban Design Program along with teaching Urban Design postgraduate courses at Effat University, Jeddah, KSA. He is also a visiting professor at School of Urban Planning and Public Policy at University of Texas-at-Arlington, USA, and Faculty of Architecture, Beirut Arab University at Beirut, Lebanon.

Dr. Ragab delivered lectures and presentations in over 9 countries; and contributed widely to several international publications. He has written over 32 articles and papers in local and international conferences, archival journals, and magazines; co-authored two books: Responsibilities and Opportunities in Urban and Architectural Conservation: Theory, Education and Practice, (USA), and IAPS volume " Requalifying the Built Environment: Challenges and Responses" (Lausanne, Switzerland). He is a member of the award selection panel of the Fulbright Fellowships of Egypt and Alexandria University’s Committee of Education Development. Since 2009, he serves as a member of the Planning Research Board of Reviewers at Qatar National Research Fund and a member of the scientific board of editorials at Beirut Arab University Journal, Cities, and in the scientific committees of many international conferences. He was the recipient of the International Award of Saeed Farsy Foundation in 1998.

Dr. Ragab is an affiliate to the Egyptian Urban Planning and Architecture Association of Egypt. He was awarded two Fulbright fellowships by the USA Department of State at University of Texas at Arlington, and Missouri State University. He taught undergraduate and post graduate programs’ courses at Beirut Arab University of Lebanon. His academic experiences include teaching courses on Urban Planning, City Planning, and Urban Design principles, studios, applications and theories. Other courses include research methods, housing policy, public policy, poverty-and-disparity and planning in Developing Countries, urban sociology, urban conservation, and land-use policy and control.   He also taught and supervised Master and Ph.D. Programs and courses. His courses and projects place emphasis on recent developmen.
