The 6th Effat Undergraduate Research Forum
"Sustainable Solutions for Global Challenges"

The Research and Consultancy Institute (RCI), in cooperation with the Deanship of Student Affairs and Effat Library and Cultural Museum, is pleased to announce the Call for Paper for the Sixth Effat Undergraduate Research Forum (UGRF). This year's forum theme is "Sustainable Solutions for Global Challenges". Undergraduate students from all Saudi Universities are encouraged to submit proposals for scholarly work, papers (presentations), Posters, Demonstrations/Innovative Prototypes, video/audio and Showcases of the previous and current semesters (Fall 2024 & Spring 2025).
About the Theme:
The 6th UGRF theme addresses pressing global issues like poverty, hunger, water scarcity, public health or education disparities, proposing innovative solutions from a global perspective.
About the UGRF Forum:
This forum serves as a multi-disciplinary gathering for discussing and exchanging information on undergraduate students' research and development projects.
Participation Tracks
Track I: Tech Challenges and Considerations
Renewable energy technologies: studying the latest developments in renewable energy sources and their ability to meet global energy challenges.
Track II: Promoting Inclusivity and Equity
Ethical Consumption and Responsible Production: Exploring the role of consumers and businesses in promoting sustainability through ethical purchasing decisions and sustainable production practices.
Track III: Design and Sustainability
Sustainable Planning and Design: Exploring innovative approaches to creating environmentally friendly and socially inclusive cities.
Track IV: Digital Green Economy
Sustainable Planning and Design: Exploring innovative approaches to creating environmentally friendly and socially inclusive cities.
Participation categories
The Program includes a wide range of interesting and useful activities designed to facilitate the exchange of ideas and information.
Student Papers:
Undergraduate Students are required to deliver their best research presentation addressing topics related to the forum's theme in just 3 minutes (Maximum of five slides). They can present research from the previous and current coursework of semesters (Fall 2024 & Spring 2025).

A panel of academic reviewers will review each submission. Selected papers will be considered for publication in Effat Undergraduate Research Journal, which is in the process of being indexed in the Scopus Research Platform. For this purpose, students might be required to modify their papers after the presentation in the forum, if needed.
Innovation Exhibition:
An innovation exhibition is an event specifically designed to showcase cutting-edge ideas, products, and technologies that have the potential to shape the future. It provides a platform for students to come together, explore groundbreaking advancements, and foster collaboration. The exhibition will include:
Poster Session:
Completed or current research projects can be presented during extended poster session. Students submit a research poster including a research brief, a precise statement of the problem or issue, followed by a description of the research method and design, the significant findings, and the conclusions reached.

Project/Prototype Showcases:
Showcases and demonstrations of designs or prototyped products can be presented in the exhibition. Students will submit a brief abstract about the project or prototype.

Audio/Visual (A/V) Exhibitions: A Sensory Experience
An A/V exhibition combines the power of sound and visuals to create an immersive and engaging experience for viewers. It goes beyond a traditional art exhibit by incorporating elements like:All proposals should be written and presented in English except for the Arabic language-related research.
Eligibility
Active undergraduate students with research from Fall 2023 and Spring 2024.
The Prizes
Winners will be nominated from each category and from each track. First-place winners will be awarded SR 1000, a certificate, and a plaque. Second-place winners will be awarded SR 500 and a certificate.
