الانتقال نحو الاستدامة

According to the Saudi Energy Efficiency Center, the building sector consumes approximately 29% of the total primary energy in the Kingdom. Effat University realises that without decisive global action to reduce CO2 emissions, other air pollutants and greenhouse gasses (GHGs), global warming and climate change will persist.

The University's sustainability vision is to support initiatives for and enhance the importance of sustainability in all facets of campus life. In order to adequately carry out this ambitious vision, several future on-campus activities are being developed and activated, such as the Student Sustainability Club, the smart building systems and techniques, and Effat Community Garden. Also, according to the International Energy Agency of the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (IEA/OECD), 'transport accounts for nearly one-quarter of global energy-related CO2 emissions'. In its efforts to enable mobility without increasing CO2 emissions or accelerating climate change, the University regulated its transportation services to limit daily trips to two per day. The University also divided neighbourhoods into zones and cost regions, limiting the number of University vehicles on the road.
