Prof. Dr. Kashef has a wide-ranging professional practice, public service, and academic experiences. His professional and academic backgrounds integrate architectural and engineering practice, urban design, strategic planning, management, university teaching and administration.
Dr. Kashef has served in leadership positions in Higher Education Institutions and as keynote/guest speaker in conferences and events worldwide. He holds a PhD in Urban Planning and Design from the University of Waterloo, Canada.
Dr. Kashef has extensive supervision experience of graduate students' dissertations and conducted numerous undergraduate and graduate courses, studios, and seminars in architecture, urban planning, management, urban design and historic preservation at Saudi, UAE, Canadian, and American Universities. His research synthesizes architectural and city planning knowledge and contributes to the literature of sustainable development, smart cities, and learning pedagogy. He serves on the Editorial and Research Review Boards of several highly ranked research journals and professional publications.
Dr. Kashef is also a Registered Architect with the Ontario Association of Architects (OAA) and Royal Architectural Institute of Canada (RAIC). He has led the planning, design, and construction of large-scale urban development projects.
Dr. Kashef has held executive positions in multinational architectural consulting and development companies. He has contributed to the development of educational curricula, accreditation and quality assurance protocols, and interuniversity articulation agreements. He is a proponent of interdisciplinary knowledge, learning by doing, technology and collaborative education. Prof.Dr. Kashef is a multicultural and accomplished professional with a wide-ranging capacity in occupations related to the built environment.
