Vision
Carefully document and record the life and works of Queen Effat in order to trace her legacy. This process will include interviewing Queen Effat's friends and family members (with express permission) in order to accurately present as many perspectives as possible, have a series of scholarly articles which will clearly articulate the educational and cultural legacy left by this truly exceptional woman, Queen Effat
Mission
This is the logical and ideal context in which to carry out the proposed research project. Effat University was founded by Queen Effat and King Faisal.
Involve past and present Queen Effat Citizenship Award winners in the activities of the scientific research chair by encouraging them to contribute to this research, and to be actively engaged in disseminating it among the wider public. Support an outstanding national or international female scholar by means of the Effat Legacy Research Grant in one or more of the following areas: the advancement of women's education, curriculum development, Middle Eastern studies, international dialogue and cross-cultural communication, and the empowerment of women and youth. The winner of the Effat Legacy Research Grant will actively engage in research that contributes to the enhancement of the Effat Legacy Chair.
Goals
Provide a concrete frame of reference for the 'Effat Legacy' through conducting research, thereby providing a deeper sense of who Queen Effat was, and what her ideas and vision were.
Create repositories of information regarding Queen Effat, in order to share it in an accessible format with Effat University community and with the broader local, national, and international communities.
Educate all who come to Effat University about the struggle to promote education for young women in Saudi Arabia and the monumental contribution of Queen Effat.
Link the research produced by the scientific chair in a meaningful way to the Queen Effat Citizenship Award (QECA). This coveted award is an honor bestowed on one exceptional, well-rounded student each year that embodies the educational vision of Queen Effat. The Queen Effat Citizenship Award winner displays leadership, a passion for life-long learning, a sense of civic responsibility, dedication to community service, and subject matter expertise.
Establish an annual research grant in Queen Effat's name (the Effat Legacy Research Grant) intended to support an outstanding national or international female scholar in one or more of the following areas: the advancement of women's education, curriculum development, Middle Eastern studies, international dialogue and cross-cultural communication, and the empowerment of women and youth.
