Research Ethical Conduct
All research conducted at Effat University involving human participants must be submitted to the Research Ethics Institutional Review Committee (REIRC) for review and approval, or to be determined exempt from the need for review. This includes three main principles that are: Research on Human Participants and Other Living Creatures Policy, Misconduct in Research Policy and Informed Consent Policy. Intellectual Property:
Effat University follows the Saudi Patents Office (SPO) Regulations that aims to provide protection for inventions, layout-designs of integrated circuits, plant varieties and industrial designs in the Kingdom. For more information
Patents: Patents are indicators of the research output of the university, and hence are recognized as research output of individual researchers.
Copyright: Copyright is a legal right created by the law of a country that grants the creator of an original work exclusive rights for its use and distribution and for a specific period of time. The exclusive rights are not absolute but limited by limitations and exceptions to copyright law of the country, including fair use.
Research Quality
Publication of research in recognized forms provides evidence of peer review and acknowledgment of research contributions. Recognized forms of research publication include professional journals, academic journals, books, book chapters, exhibitions and exhibition catalogues, awards and prizes, competitions. Effat University expects all Faculty to disseminate their research findings through academic journals or conference proceedings of an international standard, falling in the below approved categorizations.
For Research: Only research publications published in the following categories of journals and conferences, and with Effat affiliation will be counted towards the faculty research load and performance evaluation:
Business: All ISI listed, All Scopus listed, in addition to those rated not less than three in the evaluation rating of Association of Business School, UK (ABS).
Architecture and Design: All ISI listed and those approved by the Scientific Council.
Engineering: ISI listed and All Scopus listed.
Sciences and Humanities: All ISI listed, All Scopus listed and those approved by the Scientific Council.
For conferences: Scopus listed conference proceedings will be only considered.
Effat Research Programs Directions
Through the RCI Effat focuses on two main research program directions the Scientific and Applied Research, where it grows in the fields of Electrical Engineering, Architecture & Design, Business, Energy, Water, Electronics, Computer Science, Sciences and Humanities.
Scientific Research includes the publications, the conferences participation and additional output of the Researchers and Students creativity, innovation and teamwork with or without partnerships with the local and the international community. The achievement of the Scientific Research output is accomplished within four established Research Centers:
Research Grants
The RCI offers internal and external grants opportunities. The Internal Funding supports the Faculty and the Researchers with funds for the implementation of Research projects and the Conference participation. The external grants scheme additionally contributes to the External Research Projects and the Visiting Researchers program. Great example of the external fundraising activity is the Virtual Reality Research Center established in 2013. It was granted with the amount of 1.300.000SAR funded by NESMA with the scope to produce state of the art technologies in Virtual Reality, modelling and simulation. Business Development
The Business Development Office (BDO) is a new initiative of Effat University aiming to increase the business services, bring more technology transfers, and to achieve a long-term value, a powerful driving force for Effat's Sustainability. BDO operates under the administration of the Deanship of Graduate Studies and Research (DGSR) and its main mission is to identify healthy business and funding opportunities, to create successful partnerships increasing the interaction between the Community (local and International) and Effat's Human Resources that will lead to Academic Excellence, harmonized Alliance with nation's needs and continuous contribution to the society.
