The Virtual Reality Research Center established in 2014 at Effat University. The VR Center performs research and provides state-of-the-art technology related to Virtual Reality Modelling and Simulation to serve both the global research community and the local community in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

Vision

The VR Center and its local and international partners will provide the local and the global community with the specialized expertise to support virtual reality research, education, and applications. Additionally, the VR Center will contribute to the following areas:

  • Healthcare Sector
The VR Center works to provide a pain management system, which will control the level of pain from (pain level-7 to pain level-3) without the use pharmacological dosage. This will enable health practitioners to free their patients from the major side effects of pharmacological medicine.
  • Science of Virtual Reality
The center will actively contribute to Effat University's vision on leading significant scientific endeavors in various academic research fields. It will also continue the successful research direction undertaken by its collaborative teams today.
    Learning Environments and Education.

We envision the VR Center as Effat frontier to the community by introducing the VR technology to students and schools. Through its “Visitor Corner," the Center will accommodate up to 200 students per year.

Collaborations

The Center has established strong collaborations with several world-leading academic institutions such as: University of Washington, Seattle and University of Miami. These collaborations have resulted in hosting two visiting researchers and conducting a number of relevant research projects.
