    What admissions criteria do you use?

    We welcome students from a diverse range of backgrounds. Typically, though, we will look for the following requirements:

    • A High School Certificate or its equivalent from inside or outside the Kingdom, with a minimum score of 80% (85% for Electrical and Computer Engineering Program)
    • A minimum score of 525 on your TOEFL test, 5.5 on IELTS, or their equivalent
    • To successfully pass your DTMS (2 or 4 parts depending on the intended program)
    • To successfully pass your personal interview with our Program Admission Committee
    • A personal statement
    • A portfolio
    • A letter of recommendation​

    What is the program length?

    4 years for the following programs (the Program Admission Committee may recommend that you attend one or two semesters of the Foundation Year. In this case, the length of the program will be up to 5 years:

    Are there training opportunities for the students?

    The Career Development Office helps students gain access to various opportunities for learning with emphasis on internships and part-time jobs in international and national companies such as, ARAMCO, Zahid, GE, NCB, Nestle, Unilever, etc.

    Effat University is a degree-granting institution fully licensed by the Ministry of Education of Saudi Arabia. Effat University’s Final License Number is 327/A. Dated 8/2/1430.
    The University is fully accredited by the Saudi Arabian Education Evaluation Commission – National Center for Academic Accreditation and Assessment (EEC-NCAAA), and internationally by the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET).

    What percentage of faculty members teach undergraduates?

    The ratio between faculty members and students is 1:25.



    How large are classes?

    Some introductory courses as well as several other popular courses have large enrollments. Yet, the median class size at Effat is 25. Of the nearly 600 courses offered last fall, for example, more than 300 of them enrolled 25 or fewer students.




    Is it possible to get to know my professors?

    Yes. In addition to weekly office hours and advising sessions, students often spend time with their professors before and after class. There are also many campus-wide occasions when professors as well as students attend departmental, college and university gatherings.



    How easy is it to change my concentration?

    About a third of undergraduates change fields after declaring their concentrations, which students do midway through their sophomore year. You would simply change concentrations in consultation with your departmental advisers.

    What is Effat's graduation rate?

    The College’s graduation rate is normally 98 percent. Everyone admitted to Effat has the ability to complete all academic requirements successfully.



    How successful are Effat students in gaining admission to graduate schools or finding employment after graduation?

    From the population of Effat alumnae, 71% are employed or enrolled in graduate programs: 60% are in the work force, and 11% are continuing their graduate education in local and international institutions.

    What advising and support services are available?

    Woven into Effat’s academic programs are a variety of academic and other advising resources that make the learning experience at Effat distinctive. Students at all levels are assigned advisors from their department faculty members.  Freshman are especially cared for to ensure smooth transition to college life. The University also offers extensive advising resources of other kinds. If you need extra help in coursework, you can turn to the Enhancement Center. The Office of Career Development offers career counseling. The Counselor provides free sessions to all university students who may need special guidance and support. The University maintains its own outstanding health services through the Clinic. The Scholarship and Financial Aid Office will help you with financial matters and concerns. The Student Alumni Office will help place you in jobs on and off campus. Finally, if you are an international student, the International Office is there for your all your needs

    Does Effat provide services if I have a disability?

    Yes. The Deanship for Student Affairs (DSA) assists students with any impairment limiting their ability to walk, see, hear, speak, learn, or write. Based on each student’s successful strategies, the Deanship collaborates with faculty and staff to ensure individualized accommodation. Accessible housing and transportation are also available.


    What sort of study abroad programs are available?

    For international students, this is an opportunity to discover the true spirit of the Middle East though the Red Sea Culture Immersion Program, and Diploma in Arabic as a Foreign Language: Heritage, Culture and Civilization. In addition, you deserve to enjoy legendary Arab hospitality and an unforgettable multicultural learning experience through the undergraduate programs or master’s programs as a visiting student.. We offer scholarships for international students interested in joining Effat University.
    Once Effat student, you become eligible for the Study Abroad Scholarship Program that is available for undergraduate students. Students have the opportunity to study for one semester fully covered by the University (tuition fees, accommodation fees, airfare, health insurance, and stipend). Applicants should meet the Study Abroad Scholarship Program admission criteria.
