The Positive Psychology & Wellbeing Research Lab is the first of its kind in Saudi Arabia and the second in the Middle East. The lab is specialized in the scientific study of applied positive psychology and Wellbeing. Situated in Effat University, Saudi Arabia, the PPWR lab was also the first of its kind in the Effat Psychology Department. Founded by Dr. Saddiga Al-Ghalib and three of her former students, Shaden Al-Khalifah, Afeefah Salim, and Rana Dahlawi, the team was brought together by their passion for the scientific pursuit of answers.
The Story Behind Our Logo
Positive Psychology & Wellbeing Research Lab
Our logo has 4 elements each of which have their own meaning:
- Five colors: (Green, Orange, Yellow, Blue and Purple). Each of these colors represent the five key elements of psychological wellbeing respectively in accordance with the PERMA model of wellbeing in positive psychology. Green: Positive emotions (P). Orange: Engagement (E). Yellow: Relationships (R). Blue: Meaning (M). Purple: Accomplishment (A).
- Four leaves: These four leaves represent the four functions of the Positive Psychology and Wellbeing Research Lab (Research, Assessment Development, Community Services and Professional Services). They are represented in the form of leaves because they depict four functional units of the lab that are continuously growing and require nourishment from the four founders of the team.
- Four People: The four people represent the four founding members of the Positive Psychology and Wellbeing Research Lab.
- Plus Sign: The plus sign created by the four people depicts Positive Psychology. It also represents the positive work environment presented in the lab at all times that is instilled by the founders. A positive environment enables an individual to work in a state of 'flow'. Flow is described by Positive Psychology as a state of mental operation in which the working individual is fully engaged in a feeling of energized focus, full involvement, and enjoyment in the process of the activity.
